In this article, I have specifically highlighted tasks/analysis I did as a founder to validate my idea like market analysis, product validation, product strategy, business model, gtm, running experiments to validate hypothesis, potential risks and pitfalls, etc
I will soon update the article to incorporate more on the user research and product design aspects of the project.
- When we were all locked in our homes due to COVID-19 restrictions, I felt really bored and lonesome and I wanted to connect with new people just to have a chat and talk about what’s going on around the world.
- This got me wondering if some kind of application already exists in the market that lets us do this. This led me to start doing my research and validating the idea behind the product.
📍What’s it?
A mobile app that uses device location to let you instantly connect and start a conversation with anyone anywhere
🤔Problem: What’s the need?
- Everyone loves to meet new people and make new friends but in today’s fast-paced world, it can be difficult for individuals to find and connect with like-minded people.
- Some people shy away from starting a conversation in public and for others approaching a stranger out of nowhere feels nerve-wracking!
- Sometimes people look for a partner to go to the gym with, to talk about something they are interested in, or for any such task in their life but they don’t know where to find them.
- People feel bored and lonely and want to meet new people and make new friends.
- Being socially active is very important for our mental health but it's not so easy to make new friends especially, as an adult.
- Also, there are no apps currently available to help you with this purpose.

🧐 Why now? : Validating the need using data
There is an increasing need for more social connections among people which cannot be fulfilled by the existing apps in the market.
A study done by CSDS(Center for Survey of Developing Societies) reveals that the percentage of Indian youth who felt socially isolated or lonely was around 10% in 2016. A recent study in this field (done by a group of researchers from the University of Allahabad) reveals that the number has jumped to 40.8% in 2020. Not only in India but these numbers are also similar in the global scenario.
